Re: Good Morning 2024
Sorry for the losses, everything seems to appen at once.
A Dr. on TV yesterday was jumping up and down screaming about H5N1 being in the milk - no further breakdown (e.g fragments) nope, just fearmongering.
You take care of yorself @WLLady

Re: Good Morning 2024
hi all,
Mom ducks are getting very possessive of nests....I actually don't know how long they've been sitting, so....i expect ducklings everywhere shortly LOL.
The moms always seem to get all noisy and protective in the last week or so.
Things are an absolute mess with the family - wow, funerals, deaths bring out the absolute worst in people i think. I have one half of the family refusing to come because the other half is untenable. and honestly, that sounds about right. I'm dreading it....but we (DH and I) are going to be there for the kids. At least it should be short, and we can escape with the kids if needed. Thank you all for the wishes!
I still haven't heard of infectious H5N1 in milk....only fragments. So that's good. But it can jump to workers working with the sick cattle. Seems to be pretty mild with some workers testing positive and no symptoms and others with fatigue only or mild fevers...fingers crossed it doesn't do anything worse! Certainly this year i've found way fewer dead tweety birds around! So hopefully it's less severe this year. I did find my 7 year old hen passed away yesterday...she was fine in the morning happily eating sunflower seeds and at 4pm looked like she was asleep in the bottom nesting box. I'm not sure what the conversion of chicken years to people years is, but she had to be 200 or so! LOL

Remember to take care of yourself and your family during these stressful times, and know that you're not alone.
I'm glad to hear that there haven't been any severe cases of infectious H5N1, and I hope it continues to stay mild.
I'm also glad you can laugh some of the pain off

My condolences @WLLady Hope you feel better soon. We bought a new water dispenser. I guess it was time to say goodbye to Pizza... RIP...
I wrote this poem when my friend's mom passed away from ovarian cancer..during Covid.. We weren't allowed to visit.. ..Dec. 6 RIP Betty...
you watched us grow
taught us to be tough
and gentle
work hard
and enjoy Life
we watched the children grow
taught them to love learning
and snow
the sunrises
and sunsets
are still beautiful
but not the same
without you
